Matthieu Totta known as Matt Pokora/M. Pokora is a French RnB singer, born in Strasbourg the 25th of september 1985.
He was a member of Mic Unity but became famous as part of the group that won Popstars: Linkup. After they broke up, Matt went single and worked with some big names in the RnB/Hip hop scene. He did change his name from Matt Pokora to M. Pokora, due to another singer who's named Matt as well.
In 2005 he released his first album that also included his two hits "Elle me contrôle" and "Showbiz". In 2006 the album "Player" appeared and Matt scored some hits with "It's alright" (with Ricky Martin) and "Mal de guerre".
He has also won four NRJ awards, in 2006 for best clip and best french song (both for elle me contrôle) and in 2007 for best french male artist and for the clip of "De retour".

    Matthieu Tota (French pronunciation:[matjøtɔta]; born 26 September 1985), artistically known as Matt Pokora and later M. Pokora (), is a French pop singer.[2] He is very well known for his catchy melodies and smooth vocals.[3] Pokora mostly sings in French but he has also recorded a number of songs in English. In 2016 and 2017, he served as a coach for The Voice Kids France. He was also a coach in the sixth season of The Voice: la plus belle voix in 2017 alongside Florent Pagny, Mika and Zazie, where his finalist Lisandro Cuxi went on to win the season.[4]

    Early life. His father, professional footballer Andr� Tota, is the son of Polish immigrants. His mother: Brigitte. His parents divorced in 1998. He went to an elementary school in Hohberg, and later at Coll�ge Paul-�mile Victor in Mundolsheim, and Lyc�e Aristide Briand in Schiltigheim near Strasbourg. When he was younger he wanted to become a professional football (soccer) player. However, he later opted for music. Matthieu Tota explained the origin of his stage name Matt Pokora in an interview during the documentary Mise � jour. He said he was searching for an artistic name and happened to be talking to his grandmother of Polish origin and the importance of humility came up. He asked her "how do we say 'humility' in Polish language," and she said "pokora". Tota immediately decided to adopt the word as his stage name, and shortened his first name to Matt.
