This Is Me

September 18, 2024
I purposely downloaded this book so I wasn’t giving her any money or contributing to her purchases in any way. Since I lost my friend in 2020 to a drunk driver, I swore to myself I would never ever support someone who drink drives. After all the years I’ve spent raising money and organising charity events for road safety charities in her honour, how could I possibly then go on to support Katie Price, who not once in this book admitted to feeling guilt about her drink driving?

But I was intrigued what she would say about not just the drink driving, but also the PTSD. As someone with PTSD, I thought she would be relatable and inspiring, and instead she goes on for almost a whole chapter about how her problems are worse than pretty much anyone else and doesn’t forget to remind you time and time again how “severe” her trauma is, and nobody else’s can be considered “trauma” in comparison to hers.

Before I read this book, I didn’t like Katie Price. Not because of the media like she thinks, but because she doesn’t take responsibility for her own actions.

Modelling and more

When Katie was 16 a friend suggested she should try modeling, and to her surprise having got some photos done the London agency to which she sent them signed her up. The agency came up with her famous stage name Jordan, and she soon started appearing in The Sun and men's lifestyle magazines, becoming one of Britain's best-known models.

In 2001 her growing fame led her to stand in the UK general election. Her comical campaign, in which she promised more nudist beaches and a parking ticket ban, ultimately won her 713 votes.
