Meet Our Team
Born outside Chicago, I grew up mainly in central California and have been in Utah since the early 1980s. After earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting, I switched careers and earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Brigham Young University in 1996. I completed my internship at the Counseling Center at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and am a licensed Psychologist.
Prior to coming to SLCC, I worked with college students at the counseling/health center of the University of Alaska Fairbanks and later with older adults at Valley Behavioral Health. I’ve been the Manager of Counseling Services at SLCC since 2012.
I maintain a healthy skepticism toward schools of therapy, diagnostic categories, and the latest mental health fads. Empirical research points toward the qualities of the relationship between therapist and client as the strongest factor leading to healing and change. Resumo
A complexa relação entre linguagem e ciência econômica ainda suscita muitos debates e reflexões. Este artigo explora essa interação na obra de Adam Smith a partir de seus ensaios sobre a formação das línguas (Considerações sobre a primeira formação das línguas) e a produção de conhecimento (principalmente, História da astronomia). Mais especificamente, apresentamos como a crítica de Smith às concepções de riqueza mercantilista e fisiocrática exposta em A riqueza das nações está ancorada nas ideias do autor a respeito da formação das palavras. Para tanto, apresentamos a perspectiva desses ensaios e, posteriormente, mostramos como ela está presente nas críticas de Smith aos outros dois sistemas de economia política e na elaboração do seu próprio conceito de riqueza.
