Belcalis Marlenis Cephus (née Almánzar;[a] born October 11, 1992), known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper. Noted for her unfiltered public image and lyrics, Cardi B is one of the most successful female artists. From 2015 to early 2017, she gained recognition on Vine and Instagram, as a cast member on VH1's Love & Hip Hop: New York, and by releasing two mixtapes.
Her first studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), debuted atop the Billboard 200 with the largest female rap album streaming week of all time, and Billboard later ranked it the top female rap album of the 2010s. Critically acclaimed, it made Cardi B the first solo female artist in history to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, and Rolling Stone ranked it the best debut album of all time by a female rapper. Cardi B News: Rapper Hospitalized for Medical Emergency
Cardi B canceled an upcoming concert at an Atlanta music festival as she recovers from an unspecified health emergency. The “WAP” rapper’s announcement came three days before she was scheduled to headline the ONE Musicfest on October 26.
“I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days and I wont [sic] be able to perform at ONE MusicFest,” she posted on Instagram. “It breaks my heart that I won’t get to see my fans this weekend and I really wish I could be there.”
The 32-year-old gave birth to her third child in early September. She hasn’t had any public health scares before.

Rapper/Singer Cardi B grew up in the Latin neighborhood Highbridge in the South Bronx with a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother. After growing up in the Bronx, she gained popularity after she had several videos go viral on Vine and Instagram in 2013. In 2015, she joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York.
Cardi B made her music debut in the fall of 2015 in Jamaican singer Shaggy’s song “Boom, Boom”. In 2017, she released her second mixtape and signed her first record deal with Atlantic Records. Her first hit solo “Bodak Yellow” was released the same year, which earned the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
