Andy Milonakis Biography
Comedian Andy Milonakis landed his own series on MTV in 2005, thanks in large part to “The Superbowl Is Gay,” a short comedy film he posted on the Internet in 2003. The film, featuring Milonakis performing an impromptu “song” in which pretty much everything — from DVDs to orange juice — is “gay,” made the rounds on the Web and drew attention to other short films he had posted at AngryNakedPat.com. Television personality Jimmy Kimmel took notice and hired Milonakis to do wacky man-on-the-street interviews for Jimmy Kimmel Live, which in turn led to a Kimmel-produced series for MTV, The Andy Milonakis Show. On TV Milonakis appears to be a young teenager whose crude and ridiculous antics celebrate a comedy rooted in immature pranks. Bio
Milonakis has a growth condition that gives him the outward appearance and voice of an adolescent boy. In his high school years at John Jay High School in Cross River, New York, he would use comedy as a means to cope with incessant bullying. "Humor is a great defense mechanism," says Milonakis. "If you're a serious, fat, young-looking kid, you're not going to be the most popular guy in high school."
A lifelong comedy fan with dreams of pursuing a career as a comedian, Milonakis began dabbling in comedy while working at his tech support job at a Manhattan accounting firm in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In his free time, he began taking comedy classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City and eventually started gaining attention on the internet for the homemade sketches he posted on his website angrynakedpat.com.
