Yoshiki Hayashi (Japanese: 林佳樹, Hepburn: Hayashi Yoshiki, born November 20, 1965), known as Yoshiki^[6], is a Japanese musician, songwriter, composer, record producer, film director, and fashion designer. He is best known as the leader of the visual kei rock bands X Japan and the Last Rockstars, for which he is the drummer, pianist, and main songwriter.^[7] He has been described by Billboard as a "musical innovator"^[8] and named "one of the most influential composers in Japanese history" by Consequence.^[9] Yoshiki's solo career includes several classical studio albums and collaborations with artists such as George Martin, Bono, will.i.am, St. Vincent, the Chainsmokers, Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Stan Lee, Roger Taylor and Brian May of Queen, Gene Simmons and KISS, Nicole Scherzinger, and Sarah Brightman.

Biography

It all started when Yoshiki's mother, a classical piano teacher, began giving him lessons at the age of five. From then on, he always showed a great affinity for music. When he discovered at the age of ten that his father had comitted suicide, his love for music was what carried him through the tragedy. A big fan of KISS among other American bands, Yoshiki learned to focus his anger and pain through drumming.

In 1976, Yoshiki and his childhood friend Deyama Toshimitsu formed a rockspeed metal band called NOISE. In 1982, at the end of their high school days, Yoshiki and Toshi tried to turn NOISE into a professional band. Renamed X, the band became notorious because of their punkish looks and their music was too angry and aggressive for a recording label to r
